The statements herein concerning voter eligibility, voter registration and absentee ballots were in effect prior to the November, 2018 election. The office of the Michigan Secretary of State is working on implementaton of Constitutional Ameendment 18-3 ("Promote the Vote") which was passed by Michigan voters in November, 2018. When the processes and procedures are established, they will be noted here.
Who is eligible to vote in Michigan?
In order to vote in Michigan you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old by election day, a resident of the city or township where you register and not serving a sentence in jail or prison.
You must register to vote at least 30 days before an election. After that, you can vote in future elections without re-registering, unless you move or change your name. See more about Voter Registration
